On our first and second day of our preparatory seminar we learned a lot about the ASEAN region and our destinations to be visited soon already, so on this third day of our seminar, the project management team planned things a little differently. Today, two company visits were on our schedule!
Our first stop today was Biel, where the headquarter of our Gold Partner DT Swiss is located. We are honored that DT Swiss was our Gold Partner for the second consecutive year, and we were thrilled to visit their site today. After a short presentation on the history of the company and some insights into their business, we embarked on an insightful tour through their production halls in Switzerland. Our delegation was amazed at the precise manufacturing machines of DT Swiss, which enable them to produce high-quality bicycle components. We were furthermore fascinated by the quality measurement procedure which DT Swiss applies to all of their produced wheels. The project management team was also delighted to have met David Grossenbacher, a former project manager of exploreASEAN, who is now working for DT Swiss and gave us a presentation about employment opportunities at DT Swiss. At this point, we would like to express our thanks to DT Swiss for their lasting contribution and support towards our project.
After an exciting morning, we went off to the city of Basel by coach. On the ride to our next company visit at F. Hoffmann-La Roche, we enjoyed a nice lunch bag which was provided to us from Hotel Arte in Olten.
At Roche, we were greeted by Dr. Volker Herdweck, who delivered a presentation about opportunities at Roche and gave us useful tips about how to apply to companies in the future. His tips were important insofar, as all delegation members are last-year students who will graduate in summer 2019. We finalized our day with a visit to Pebbles Lounge, which is on top of Roche Tower (the tallest building in Switzerland), where we could enjoy the beautiful sunset over the city of Basel.
