The exploreASEAN preparatory seminar, the first milestone of our project, has finally started today. The aim of our preparatory seminar is to brief our delegation about our upcoming trip to Southeast Asia.
At 08:30 this morning, all the students participating in one of the international student projects met at the auditorium at Campus Olten, where Dr. Crispino Bergamaschi, President of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland gave an opening speech, followed by Mr. Marc Blaser who is the CEO of our Main Joint Partner Blaser Swisslube with his highly motivating speech.
After those two speeches, all delegations proceeded to their individual rooms to learn more from expert speakers about their regions. In our case, Patrick Kriesemer, the Vice President of the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) started the individual part of the day with an interesting overview about the ASEAN countries Not only gave he us interesting insights into the ASEAN business world, but also strategic advices, which we will directly apply in a workshop with him tomorrow.
After his speech, we were honored to welcome Mrs. Sutthathip Vathiphund, Counsellor of the royal Thai embassy in Berne, who gave us another interesting presentation about cooperation in the ASEAN market. Did you know that Thailand assumed the ASEAN Chairmanship for 2019 and focused on the theme “Advancing Partnership for sustainability”?
In the afternoon, our supervisor Dr. Teresa Freiburghaus held the next presentation, giving a speech about country insights in Vietnam. Her presentation was a perfect preparation for our delegation for our time together in Vietnam.
The same applies to Mr. Syarif Hidayatullah, who delivered a presentation about country insights into Indonesia. His authentic presentation style enabled him to connect to our delegation quickly and giving them insights into the culture of Indonesia.
The last presentation of the day was held by Mr. Tuck Seng Low. We were very honored to welcome Mr. Low for the fourth time already in our preparatory seminar. His presentation about reskilling the workforce on Singapore for the Industry 4.0 was a felicitous closing speech for our most interesting first day.
