The members of the preparatory seminar for exploreASEAN met at 7.45 am today. The first official appointment was the welcome speech at 8.15 am, introduced by the Director of the FHNW School of Business, Ruedi Nützi, followed by Marc Blaser - CEO of Blaser Swisslube. His speech focused on the importance of people and how they can differentiate from each other in order to highlight their strengths to stay competitive in the job market. He further mentioned that passion is the major driver in productivity and the essential for the happiness of the individual.
Afterwards, the delegation had the honor of listening to Mrs. Angela Di Rosa, representing Switzerland Global Enterprise. The delegation got a meaningful overview about the ASEAN countries and the region as a whole. It showed the importance of the differences and similarities within the region in perspective to wealth, population and culture.
In the afternoon, the participating students received an insightful presentation about the flow of water by Antonella De Luca. As the head of Competence Center Water & Energy at Omya International AG she delivered information about the water situation and management system of the three ASEAN countries Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.
Omya invented an advanced remineralization process which they are trying to adapt in Singapore. The advanced process addresses the issue concerning the lack of space in Singapore. As the water industry is a conservative market, the roll out time is lengthy.
With an absolute highlight the first day of our preparatory seminar concluded with our final guest speaker Mrs. Dr. Le Linh Lan the ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The delegation had the possibility to gain valuable insights into the country of Vietnam. The ambassador focused on the success factors of 2019, as well as, the relationship of the Swiss Federation and Vietnam.
The students await with excitement the next day of the exploreASEAN preparatory seminar.
