Time is running so fast! Today, we spent the last day in Indonesia and had the honour to be warmly welcomed at the ASEAN secretariat in Jakarta. The new semi officer of Indonesia held a presentation about the education system and the youth in general in the ASEAN region with a focus on the largest country Indonesia. After this interesting presentation, we had a discussion round where all of us were able to participate and ask questions of our interest.

In order to avoid the well-known traffic jam in Jakarta, the delegation already left in the early morning. The first destination was Puspiptek; a science and technology research center or how the locals call it: The incubator, which is located outside of the city. This center helps start-ups to develop strategies on how to succeed with their ideas and prototype products.

The new week started at 9 am with a bus ride to the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), a local university and partner school of FHNW. The exploreASEAN delegation was joined by several ITB students and was warmly welcomed by the Director of International Relations, Ph. D. Andika Putra Pratama, followed by an introduction of the project management team about the exploreASEAN project. During the interactive program, including “speed dating”, the students from FHNW and ITB had the opportunity to get to know each other and to share their experiences. Furthermore, the students formed groups and participated in a knowledge quiz about the countries Indonesia and Switzerland.

After our first impression in Jakarta we were ready for a cultural activity. The Project Team has organized a trip to a recreation area in Bandung (approximately 3 hours from Jakarta by coach) As expected in Indonesia, we were stuck in traffic and observed this incredible spectacle. I think we all were happy being safe in the coach. I`ve never seen so many scooters on the street.

After two impressive days in Singapore, the exploreASEAN delegation is heading to Jakarta, Indonesia. Now that we slowly got used to the hot and humid weather we unfortunately had to leave this fast moving city. We were told in advance that Singapore is a city where a lot of business people are coming and going. The Clarke Quay district is a place where you can observe that, as many international people are moving around.
