End of the Onsite trip, start of something new!

# Thuy Anh Nguyen #

Finally, the onsite seminar of exploreASEAN 2017 has come to the end with a free day for the delegation member to discover Ho Chi Minh City before our departure back to Switzerland tonight. Unlike previous days with tight schedules of company visits, this morning was more comfortable as everyone could enjoy a longer sleep and a later breakfast. We were very pleasant to have time chatting while having a cup of tea or coffee in the beautiful garden of the hotel restaurant.

Workshop in Ho Chi Minh City

# Ermin Milanovic #

After several company visits, the exploreASEAN delegation members concluded their business experience with a workshop at the Continental Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. Starting with an introduction speech of the Swiss Consul General, the delegation members had the opportunity to learn from the knowledge of the experts and ask questions at different round-tables during the workshop. Topics such as ‘networking in Vietnam’, ‘current issues faced by the service industry’ and ‘current situation of the labor force in Vietnam’ were given as a starting point for the round-table discussions.

Following Swiss footprints in Vietnam

# Vivian Eido #

Today, two company visits with a Swiss connection were scheduled. After enjoying an extensive breakfast at the hotel, the delegation was ready to tackle the second-last business day in Vietnam. A one-hour bus ride later heading to the northern outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, we were warmly welcomed by Mr Loi Tran, a member of Jakob Saigon Ltd. The company is a subsidiary of Jakob Rope Systems AG, whose headquarter is based in Trubschachen, Switzerland.

The early bird catches the worm

# Jessica Bruhin #

The early bird catches the worm was the moto of this day. The hotel was generous enough to open up the breakfast buffet just for our delegation at 6am. This early wake-up call, however, was necessary, as the planned company visit took place a bit outside of Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the drivers lack of orientation and refusal to use a navigation service extended the journey by almost an hour. In the end, we managed to arrive at the Fashion Garment Ltd.'s facilities more or less on time. We were then welcomed in the showroom with a short presentation about the company's history and future plans.

A day full of surprises in the Mekong Delta

# Kristiana Basic #

For today we had another surprise event organized by the project team which was a guided tour on the Mekong river by boat. Right after the start of the tour we were having a paddling race in groups of four per boat paddling through small canals. After having reached the finish line of the paddling path, we had a few refreshers on a small island where fresh fruits were served before we headed to explore the floating market of Cai Be, one of the three floating markets in the South of Vietnam.
