We are proud to present the third edition of exploreASEAN, which is providing young people with the chance to access the ASEAN community.
Each member state of ASEAN has its unique economical, cultural and environmental characteristics. It is challenging to gain an impression of job prospects in each country in Southeast Asia. Our project pursues to give an in-depth understanding of each country to young talents and supports them to gain a foothold in ASEAN.
Technopreneurship - a mindset to success
This year, theexploreASEAN delegation will visit the member states Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam. The new edition's theme Technopreneurship focuses on how the chosen countries make the best use of technology and entrepreneurship to further stimulate their economic growth.
Considering the newly evolving technological developments, it is uncertain whether the traditional model of industrialisation, growing through a strong manufacturing base can be repeated. Although Singapore is not as dependent on manufacturing as Indonesia and especially Vietnam, they are all increasingly investing in the digital age, as well as in infrastructure. This recent developments motivated us to investigate further in this field.
We would like to have you on board toexploreASEAN together!
With Ho Chi Minh City, the project team visited the last destination of this year’s preparatory trip. From the 8th until 11th January, Kaltrina and Caroline discovered the long and extraordinary history of Vietnam, whilst getting closer to the country’s way of doing business. This trip to Vietnam provided the project team with valuable insights into ASEAN’s financial market, tech community and the cultural disparities between Southeast Asia and Switzerland. Nevertheless, new interesting collaboration with the first co-working space in Ho Chi Minh City and the social non-profit enterprise KOTO could be further established
After the eventful journey in Singapore, the project team headed to Jakarta, Indonesia for a trip of two days. Two main highlights awaited Caroline and Kaltrina during their stay in this vivid and dynamic city: The ASEAN Secretariat and the meeting with Sandmaster’s CEO, Mr Erwin Spichtig.
On 3 January 2018, Kaltrina Buqa and Caroline Niederhauser from the exploreASEAN project team started their preparatory trip, where they will have the opportunity to meet and exchange with business experts which have extensive knowledge of the South East Asian market.
Their journey of 9 days will take them to Singapore, Jakarta and Ho-Chi-Minh City.
