For today we had another surprise event organized by the project team which was a guided tour on the Mekong river by boat. Right after the start of the tour we were having a paddling race in groups of four per boat paddling through small canals. After having reached the finish line of the paddling path, we had a few refreshers on a small island where fresh fruits were served before we headed to explore the floating market of Cai Be, one of the three floating markets in the South of Vietnam. As the official opening hours are from 4am to 7am in the morning, the floating marketplace was not too busy by the time we got there. Nevertheless, it was quite an experience to observe the way people trade their eatables on their boats.

Next, our tour boat took us to an island along the river shore close by, where we learnt how the coconut candies are produced. It was where the delegation was invited for tea by the owner of the candy production facility. Before closing the Mekong boat tour, the entire exploreASEAN delegation got to eat in a restaurant in the middle of the jungle, where fresh fish and other local specialties were served. After leaving the Mekong river shore we headed to Ho Chi Minh City where few more company visits await us.
