Xin Chào Việt Nam!
Hanoi, April 15, 2017.
Starting off our journey in Vietnam, the explorers paid a visit to ABB Bac Ninh, which is located in an industrial area near Hanoi. As a Swiss company leading in the field of industrial automation, ABB has recently celebrated the marking of its 20 years in Vietnam. Among 4 locations across the country, ABB Bac Ninh is the production facility with the largest number of Vietnamese employees. It was our honour that Mr Brad Havlin kindly showed us the dynamic and professional working environment of ABB Vietnam. The explorers were impressed by not only the company’s modern facilities but also with the values ABB are committed to in Vietnam, among which Safety and Integrity were strongly emphasised. The visit closed with a casual lunch in the canteen of ABB where the explorers experienced a part of ABB’s employees’ daily life.
On the way back to Hanoi, exploreASEAN stopped by Lý Bát Đế Shrine, a historical site that was built to honour the eight kings of the Lý Dynasty in the 11th century. This is the place where the Vietnamese use for ancestor worship, not to be confused with pagodas which are exclusively associated with Buddhism. Accompanying our visit, a local tour guide was happy to introduce the explorers about the Shrine and its history, which further enriched this cultural experience.
Later that day in Hanoi, the journey continued with the famous water puppets show at Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre. This traditional art dated back as far as the 11th century, making it an integral part of the unique Northern Vietnamese culture. The experience was well enjoyed and appreciated among the delegation.
After a long day with many insightful inputs, the explorers are back again in Hanoi, looking forward to spending the first Easter of many of us in a foreign country! Later this weekend, a special event is to be revealed by the project team for an exciting celebration of all delegation members.
The last part of our journey in Vietnam promises to be filled with interesting insights from our company visits and cultural highlights.
