The Preparatory Seminar 2018 has started!
The first day had been filled with memorable speeches for exploreASEAN as well as for all the other international student projects. For the first time, the international student projects were able to organize an opening speech by a Federal Councillor of Switzerland, namely Ms Doris Leuthard. She praised the international mindset of the FHNW and persuaded us to think across borders.
The day continued for our delegation and the preparatory guests with great speeches given by lecturers from ETH Zurich and the partner university from Malaysia as well the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce and NZZ. These informative speeches took us closer to the Southeast Asian community and gave us a profound insight into the diverse aspects of ASEAN.
Thanks to Mr Tuck Seng Low, who is the Co-Chairman of the Singapore Board, our explorers acquired crucial knowledge of the technological influence in ASEAN. He introduced us to the history of technological development in ASEAN and placed the importance of mobile technology, which is evolving in the time of digitalization. Moreover, he emphasized that infrastructure needs to develop in ASEAN countries to support the standard of living.
Prof. Dr Abd. Rahman from FHNW partner university in Malaysia closed the day giving us not just country insights to Malaysia, but also showing the delegation the impact of the automotive industry in ASEAN.
